Gayle has worked hard to protect our environment, clean up Lake Okeechobee and restore our rivers.  She has worked diligently to procure over $175 million for the Lake and over $30 million for the St. Lucie River and the Indian River Lagoon.  She has also helped procure funding for the restoration of the Everglades.

In addition, Gayle has sponsored a Memorial to Congress for the past four years to send a strong message to Congress requesting Congressional funding of the Water Resources Development Act and funding for the Everglades Restoration program.  She has traveled to Washington, D.C. on numerous occasions to speak directly with Congressmen and Senators to promote the passage of Water Resources Development Act and fund the Indian River Lagoon Plan.
